Information about the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD)
With the guideline 98/8/EC (Biocidal Products Directive) that has been passed in February 1998 and its convertion into national law by May 2000 the authorisation procedure for marketing of biocidal products should be harmonised within the EC. Biocidal products are all substances and preparations which are intended for destroying resp. eliminating harmful organisms by chemical or biocidal means. The continious realization of the guideline has influence on manufacturers, formulators and users of biocidal products equally.
